  Having brought our first house 4 years ago, and finally taking the steps to have our house insulated, my wife filled out a application form to multiple insulation firms for cavity wall and loft insulation.
  
  Smart Energy was one of said firms, which they replied back extremely quickly and a date was set to have the cavity wall and loft Insulated.
  
  Having a 8-6 job meant that I wasn’t in at the time and date set for the work to take place, meaning this was unfortunately left to my Mum to make sure everything went to plan on the day.
  
  Having read horror stories on the internet with cow boy builders and mould/damp being my main concern once insulated, I decided to have the work cancelled, however after speaking to Rosa at smart, she confirmed that all there work has a 25 year guarantee and that they inject the small plastic type beads to avoid any damp issues thus rectifying my concerns, they even sent the inspection sheet (carried out a few days earlier) across to my wife confirming that everything on the house was in good condition and that the bead material was going to be used.
  
  Installion date.....
  
  After returning from work egar to feel the difference of the work carried out, I made sure to inspect workmanship.
  
  The term bodge it and scarper doesn’t even come close.
  
  The house outside, decking and garden was covered in white cotton like fluff (the one thing they said they didn’t use as apparently they use plastic beads, obviously not, beads is even stated on the document that was sent across)
  
  After inspecting the walls and locating the holes which were drilled, I was amazed to find a very thin covering of poorly mixed cement on each of the holes, bearing in mind that the wall is about 6 inches thick, they used just enough cement to make it appear that the hole had been filled.... push on it and it will all crumble and fall away leaving a very large hole in the wall.
  
  There was also three large holes left on the outside of the wall completely uncovered, ether these had clearly been forgotten about or left. Ether way makes you think what else had they missed, which after returning from work, meant that I had to dash to B&Q for a “quick fix cement” solution on the holes.
  
  Summary,
  
  Good customer service from the office.
  
  Excellent loft insulation from the fitter, he even neatened up the loft hatch which wasn’t any extra. (Note. Different van & colour to the Smart van, not covered in livery, must be outsourced)
  
  Extremely poor workmanship from the cavity wall fitters, mess left all around the house, extremely p**s poor repair of the holes.
  
  Would highly recommend that if you are after any kind of work done, AVOID smart insulation’s.
  
  I will be contacting Smart immediately to discuss this situation and what they plan on doing to fix the above issues, and will be keeping this updated.
